Department of Interdisciplinary Alcohol/Drug Studies Center

The Center provides a comprehensive range of services to educate and train students, professionals and others in surrounding communities on substance abuse prevention.

The Centers staff are all certified and licensed in several areas to provide trainings that can be used for CEU hours and other certifications.  The Center provide these ongoing trainings   for JSU students through the following activities:    

• Youth Education Prevention Conferences – one day conference that targets high school students who will be attending college. 
• Mini Workshop Series for Students and professionals- ongoing professional workshops that prepare students for state license examines and other certifications.
• Regional Alcohol/Drug Counselor Workshop Series – one day training workshops conducted state wide on alcohol/drug prevention and counseling.
• MS Collegiate Alcohol/Drug Prevention Conference – bi annual conference held to provide substance abuse prevention training for students attending colleges and universities across the state.
• Life Skills Certification Classes- evidence based program used to train peer educators and campus staff with techniques concerning how to identify substance abuse problems among students.

These classes are designed to provide students with career preparation at the professional level in the field of substance abuse intervention and counseling for those preparing for careers in alcohol/drug counseling, social services fields or other related human.   Each of these activities provide students with credit hours that can be used for various licensures and certifications

The Alcohol and Drug Counselor Program   is structured to train students with or without any prior exposure or experience in the substance abuse field, 包括:
